Position Overview
Heritage Christian Academy, a Christ-centered learning community, is seeking a dedicated and engaging educator to work with middle school students in the areas of study skills, executive functioning, and high school readiness. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting students during a formative stage of their development—academically, socially, and spiritually.​
This Middle School Teacher/Academic Coach will lead two middle school classes and work closely with students to help them build strong organizational habits, develop effective learning strategies, and grow in confidence as they prepare for the transition to high school.
Key Responsibilities

Provide class instruction in study skills and executive functioning (organization, time management, task initiation, and follow-through)

Support students in developing effective note-taking, test preparation, and independent learning strategies

Guide students in building readiness for high school academic expectations

Foster strong, supportive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate structure and accountability

Communicate regularly with parents and faculty regarding student progress

Create engaging, creative approaches to skill-building that meet the diverse needs of middle school learners

Integrate a Christian worldview into interactions and mentorship of students

Occasionally assist with middle school field trips
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree
-
Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to connect meaningfully with middle and high school school students

Creativity and flexibility in teaching and problem-solving
-
Experience working with students in an educational, coaching, or mentoring setting

Understanding of executive functioning skills and adolescent development
-
Excellent communication skills with both students and parents
-
A personal commitment to the mission and values of Christian education
Preferred
Qualifications
-
Background in education, counseling, psychology, or a related field
-
Experience in academic coaching, learning support, classroom teaching, and/or similar roles
-
Familiarity with high school academic expectations and preparation strategies
