STUDENT LIFE

Student life at Heritage is about more than getting through the school day. It’s where our students build friendships, discover talents, and learn how to lead, serve, and challenge themselves, “for God’s glory and others’ good” (Heritage Mission). Whether it’s competing on a team, worshipping in chapel, serving with their House, or arguing a case in Mock Trial, students are encouraged to get involved, try new things, and grow in confidence, character, and faith.

Athletics

Athletics play an important role in the life of most Heritage students. Eighty-eight percent of Heritage students participate in no-cut sports, including soccer, volleyball, and basketball. In addition, our nationally recognized, year-long marksmanship program offers a unique competitive opportunity that rewards focus, precision, and discipline.

Our program focuses on participation, teamwork, and growth, giving students opportunities to compete, improve, and support one another in a Christ-centered environment. Coaches emphasize skills development, discipline, sportsmanship, and joy in the game.  At Heritage, sports are not high pressure, but they are competitive. Our soccer, volleyball, and basketball teams all compete as members of the Metro Athletic Conference and end their season by competing in the Missouri Christian School Athletic Association tournament in Joplin, MO.

The Heritage Boys Soccer program challenges students to work hard, compete with integrity, and represent Christ well on and off the field. Heritage soccer teams have earned MAC tournament championships in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Volleyball

Girls Volleyball at Heritage is competitive and community-driven. Players pursue excellence on the court while learning teamwork, perseverance, and encouragement. Our team earned its first MAC championship in 2025

The Heritage Boys Basketball program is built on commitment, effort, and teamwork. Players are challenged to grow as athletes and young men, striving for excellence in practice and competition while honoring God through their attitudes and actions.

Girls Basketball

The Heritage Girls Basketball program encourages student-athletes to push themselves, support one another, and grow as leaders. Emphasizing cooperation, endurance, and confidence, the program helps young women develop both athletic skill and character.

Marksmanship

The Heritage Marksmanship Team competes year-round on 10-meter air rifle ranges, building focus, precision, and self-discipline. Athletes follow strict safety standards while competing against high schools, clubs, and JROTC teams in regional, national, and virtual leagues, including USA Shooting, the Civilian Marksmanship Program, and the American Legion. Our Heritage Hawkeyes have qualified and placed in multiple regional and national championships.

Cross Country

The Heritage Cross Country club is a springtime activity emphasizing fitness, teamwork, and fun. Students train together and compete in local 5K charity races, building endurance and community while supporting meaningful causes.

House System and Student Leadership

Every Heritage student belongs to one of four Houses: Humility, Honesty, Honor, or Hospitality. The House System creates a strong sense of belonging while providing opportunities for leadership, service, friendly competition, and spiritual growth. Students earn points through service, social events, and competitions.  Elected House leaders comprise our Student Council, led by three elected Student Council Officers (President, Vice President, and Secretary).

Key events throughout the year include the All-School Overnight Retreat at Camp Mihaska, Homecoming, Thanksgiving Feast, Prom, and the House Banquet where we crown our annual House cup winner.

Spiritual Life and Chapel

Spiritual life is part of everyday life at Heritage, shaped by biblical worldview immersion in all classes and activities. Students gather twice a week for chapel to worship, hear gospel-centered messages, and be encouraged by God’s Word. In addition, students meet weekly in small, gender-specific Prayer groups with members of their House. They use this time to pray for each other and our community and to reflect on what God is doing in their lives.

National Honor Society

Heritage’s National Honor Society chapter recognizes students for excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Students are considered based on academic achievement and demonstrated leadership and involvement in the school or broader community.
NHS members meet bi-monthly, participate in service projects, and are expected to model leadership and integrity through graduation.

Mock Trial

Mock Trial is a high school elective that teaches students how to think on their feet, speak confidently, and work as a team. Students learn courtroom procedures, trial strategy, persuasive speaking, and witness examination while competing in the St. Louis High School Mock Trial Competition hosted by the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis.

Clubs and Co-Curriculars

Heritage offers a growing selection of clubs that allow students to explore interests and build community beyond the classroom. Current offerings include Latin Club and Art Club, with additional clubs forming based on student interest throughout the year.
